How do we calculate your price?

At UpMove, billing is simple and honest: you only pay for the actual time of your move, at the posted hourly rate. The clock starts when we arrive at your door and stops once everything is set up at the destination. No hidden fees, no unpleasant surprises at the end of the day.

Four factors influence the duration — and therefore the cost — of your move: crew size (2 or 3 movers), actual move duration, travel time between your two addresses, and the volume of your belongings. During your free quote, our advisor goes through these elements with you to provide an accurate estimate before you commit to anything.

Service Policies and Conditions

Labor Only

  • 3h minimum during peak season / 2h during off-season.
  • One-hour travel fee (1h) added systematically.
  • The client must provide blankets and straps if renting their own truck.

Professional Packing Service

  • 3h minimum required. Billable time starts upon arrival.
  • Packing materials (boxes, tape, wrapping paper) are billed based on actual usage on moving day.

General Time Estimates

  • Important Notice: Estimates provided over the phone are not absolute guarantees.
  • Factors of Influence: Presence of stairs, long walking distances, extreme weather conditions, and client preparation level.
  • Travel time between the starting address and the destination is included in billable time.

Fixed-Price Quotes

  • Based on a detailed and validated inventory of your belongings.
  • Price is guaranteed provided the inventory does not change on moving day.
  • Any additional items not planned will be billed at the standard current hourly rate.

Basic Disassembly and Assembly

  • This service is included in the regular hourly rate (valid for standard beds, simple tables, dresser mirrors).
  • We do not attach or detach anything from walls (no drilling, no wall-mount TV removal).

Complex Assembly and Warnings

  • Additional fees may apply for complex furniture (Pax wardrobes, large bunk beds) or bulky gym equipment.
  • Important Warning: We decline any responsibility for damage occurring to melamine or particleboard furniture (IKEA style), as these are structurally not designed to be disassembled or moved multiple times.

What's included with every move

Professional, uniformed crew

Every UpMove mover is trained in safe handling techniques, wears a uniform, and maintains professional conduct from start to finish. You're welcoming trusted people into your home.

Moving truck and full equipment

Our trucks arrive equipped with four-wheel dollies, skid boards, tie-down straps, and protective furniture blankets — everything needed to transport your belongings safely and efficiently.

Basic insurance coverage included

Basic coverage against breakage and damage is included at no extra cost with every move. Supplemental coverage options are available on request for your high-value belongings.

Floor protection and doorframe padding

We lay down floor runners and use doorframe padding to prevent scuffs and marks when moving large furniture. Your new home stays pristine throughout the process.

NEED HELP?

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The final price is calculated by multiplying the hourly rate by the actual hours worked. Time starts when our crew arrives at your door and includes loading, travel between addresses, unloading, and basic furniture reassembly. We only charge for what is actually used — no inflated flat-rate packages.

Yes. For local moves with a truck, the minimum is 3 hours during peak season (May–August and end of month) and 2 hours during off-peak periods. For labour-only services (no truck), a 2-hour minimum applies at all times, plus one hour of travel time.

Several factors can extend the duration of a move and therefore the cost: many flights of stairs or long hallways, a small elevator, very heavy or unassembled furniture, difficult truck access, or insufficiently packed boxes. Our advisor helps you anticipate these factors during the quote.

No, we do not add a fixed surcharge for stairs or elevators — these situations are already factored into the time estimate. A move with many stairs simply takes a little longer, which is naturally reflected in the hours billed.

Absolutely not. You only pay for the time actually used, rounded to the nearest half-hour. If we finish early, your invoice reflects the real time. This is one of the key advantages of transparent hourly billing.
